The house

Ca la Carolina accommodation is a tribute to Grandma Carolina, who lived in this 18th century house of traditional and simple construction in the old town of Rabós d'Empordà. In this rural house with its own personality you will find all the comforts for a pleasant stay in Empordà, an area of natural landscapes, Costa Brava beaches, vineyards, olive groves and medieval villages.

Initially reformed in the 1990s, it was in 2022 that it was completely rehabilitated by the Altura architecture studio (https://altura.ad/ca/) and the Lacol cooperative (https://www.lacol.coop/). The intervention allowed to gain space and natural light, to introduce environmental and sustainability criteria and to enjoy better views of the Empordà.

Inside the accommodation, the local ceramics of La Bisbal d’Empordà from the ground and the walls contrast with the original walls painted white, giving colour and light but preserving their textures. On the outside, the original pale pink colour has been recovered and matches with the vibrant yellow of the ceramic.

Distribution

The accommodation is for a maximum of six guests and consists of two floors, two terraces and a small garden.

The lower floor has a bedroom, a bathroom and storage space, as well as the living room and the dining room with natural light thanks to a skylight, the kitchen and access to the outside area.

The upper floor has a bedroom with bathroom and a separate living room with windows from the floor to the ceiling. The bright yellow tiles and the view of the surrounding vineyards stand out. ?

Ca la Carolina accommodation is a unique village house in Rabós d'Empordà, a quiet place with outdoor terraces on each floor to enjoy the landscape and with a shaded patio with local aromatic plants, whose irrigation is done with rainwater. The house, of 180 m2, is rented completely for guests. There is free parking outside and animals are accepted.
